Many thanks for a very thorough summary! Sounds like step 1 is setting the correct sag via spring rate & preload (static) and step 2 is tweaking the damping to keep the wheels following the terrain as closely as possible (dynamic). The G310GS has 180mm f/r, which means 60mm sag is the goal.
